The Department of Geography, Sustainability, Community, and Urban Studies is pleased to offer scholarships and awards to our students. Awards are typically granted once per year based on student applications.

Department Awards

Bastow and Binnie Award in Urban Studies

The Bastow and Binnie Award in Urban Studies is awarded to urban and community studies majors who seek to pursue a future related to urban studies. This year's award(s) is for $1,400.

The selection of the award, which was established by Marc Bastow ‘78 (CLAS), is based on academic merit, community involvement, and need.

Application Deadline: Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 12 p.m.

Guidelines

  • Must be an urban and community studies major.
  • Must be enrolled full-time at UConn pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • Preference will be given to students currently in their junior year, but all majors are encouraged to apply, including previous applicants.

College Scholarships and Fellowships

The CLAS Office of the Dean offers scholarships and fellowships annually that consider merit and financial need. These opportunities are open to all eligible students across the College. Undergraduate students can apply for most of these opportunities by completing a standard electronic application.
