The Department of Geography, Sustainability, Community, and Urban Studies offers five minors in geography, geographic information science, urban and community studies, environmental studies, and sustainable community food systems.

Minor Options
A minor can complement your existing undergraduate degree, allow you to explore your interests, and help you gain skills for a fulfilling life and career. A plan of study for the minor must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar during the first four weeks of the semester in which the student expects to graduate.
Geography
The minor in geography gives students the ability to cross back and forth between ideas in the physical sciences and studies of human actions to create a clearer picture of why the Earth responds the way it does.
Geographic Information Science
The minor in geographic information science (GIS) provides a strong introduction to the acquisition, evaluation, modeling, and analysis of geospatial data and its use across various fields.
Urban and Community Studies
The minor in urban and community studies focuses on educating citizens on the multiple dimensions of urban and community life and preparing students for careers in public and community service.
Environmental Studies
The minor in environmental studies enables students interested in social science and/or policy approaches to solve environmental problems on a local, national, and global level.
Sustainable Community Food Systems
The minor in sustainable community food systems provides students with an intensive, experiential learning-focused approach to dealing with issues of food sustainability in communities from farming practices to food access and food justice.
